At Imagine Care, we believe residential childcare should be recognised as a highly skilled, deeply relational profession—one that changes lives, restores trust, and creates brighter futures for children, families, and the people who support them every day.
That belief is brought to life at Pleasantfield Cottage, where recent feedback from the social work department has highlighted the exceptional quality of care being experienced by young people living in the home.
One of the strongest themes emerging from recent feedback is the strength of the relationships developed between our Therapeutic Support Practitioners and the young people they care for.
The home was described as having a warm, loving and natural atmosphere, where young people are not simply supported—they are seen, valued and nurtured. Staff were recognised for consistently going above and beyond to ensure children feel safe, secure and loved in their home environment.
What stood out particularly was the depth of understanding staff demonstrate in everyday care: knowing each young person’s interests, favourite television programmes, football teams, hobbies and routines. This attention to detail creates something deeply important in trauma-skilled care: predictability, connection and belonging.
The feedback reflected that Pleasantfield Cottage feels less like a service and more like a loving family home—a place where relationships are authentic and therapeutic in their impact.
The feedback also recognised how attentively the team responds to both physical and emotional needs, particularly during periods of challenge or distress.
Where previous placements had broken down for one young person due to complex needs and difficulties in earlier care arrangements, Pleasantfield Cottage was recognised for offering something different: stability, consistency and therapeutic persistence.
Even when previous patterns of difficulty re-emerged, staff continued to provide calm emotional containment, practical support and reassurance. Importantly, the young person experienced a clear message throughout: they are safe, they are cared for, and they are not going anywhere.
This reflects the core of our trauma-skilled approach—understanding behaviour through the lens of lived experience and responding in ways that reduce anxiety rather than increase it.
Strong care extends beyond the home itself. It relies on trusted relationships with families, professionals and partner agencies.
Feedback highlighted the excellent communication from Pleasantfield Cottage, with consistent weekly updates, prompt sharing of significant events, and full engagement in meetings concerning the young person’s care and development.
This level of professional communication helps ensure that everyone involved around a child remains informed, connected and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes.
Perhaps most powerfully, the feedback recognised the significant improvements in a young person’s overall quality of life since moving into Pleasantfield Cottage.
Where previous instability had led to multiple moves, the young person is now described as: safe, settled, secure, confident and loved.
Concerns are identified quickly, and staff actively seek advice, assessment and specialist support when needed—including engagement with health professionals and wider services.
This timely, coordinated and therapeutic response has contributed to improved outcomes across daily life, emotional wellbeing and long-term placement stability.
At Imagine Care, we are committed to transforming how residential childcare is viewed. That is why we use the title Therapeutic Support Practitioner—because the role demands far more than traditional care language often reflects. It is skilled, reflective, emotionally intelligent work that changes futures every day.
Feedback such as this reinforces our ambition to be genuinely sector-leading: delivering residential care that is trauma-skilled, relationship-led and best in class for every child we support. Because every child deserves more than placement. They deserve belonging, healing and a brighter future.
